Street art is a regular occurrence on the streets of London. Did you ever wonder what the artist’s name and what’s the motivation behind a piece of street art work? Take a look at the list below compiled for us by Camden Street Art Tours.
- Mexican artists Acaro and Libre’s collaboration piece towards Chalk farm depicts animals. Libre’s colourful animal is imposed on the city and also has buildings on his neck which represent old village buildings in his native country.
- Austrian artist Chinagirl’s tile installations can be seen all over the world. Trained as a professional mould-maker she installed a bit over 200 different tile pieces since 2012.
- Brazilian artist Alex Senna paints with black and white only. To his own admission: ‘When I used to paint with colours I was 1 of the 100’s of artists who were doing the same. Now that I paint in black and white I am 1 of the 10 guys who paint using only these 2 colours.’ His work is often centred around love: young and old couples or friends are often the subject matters of his work.
- Mr Cenz’s futuristic female portraits are a result of years of experimenting with spraypaint. The portraits are somewhat ‘dissected’ so the end result will fit in with the artist’s futuristic vision.
- Simoni Fontana hails from Greece. She’s influenced by Japanese culture like manga with a hint of self-reference. She works with brushes on smaller scale street art work and uses spray paint for bigger walls.
- X choses to work with big scale stencils. His pieces are often ambiguous and left to the viewer to interpret the work on display.
- French artists Ador and Semor work separately and also as a duo. Their illustration style blends together perfectly. Their latest wall entitled ‘Street Art Tours’ received a positive reaction worldwide and was showcased on many national and international art blogs.
- French artist Gregos decided to ‘decorate’ the streets with small installations of his own face. There’s like 4-6 pieces still up in Camden. See how many you can spot!
- Brazilian artist and architect Fabio Panone Lopes works on any surface with ease. Take a look how cleverly incorporated the window so it became the character’s mouth.
*Keep it in mind that due to the ever changing nature of street art, some of the street art works in this article might not be all visible on the walking tour.
